Thanks for your comment! I’m so pleased you and the fam enjoy it. It might not cure diseases but I fully believe in the healing power of soup. It’s mood-lifting, comforting-giving, and, like you said, it lets you get something on the tummy when food is the last thing on one’s mind. This winter, I was particularly smitten with the ditalini version. So delish.

I make this version of chicken noodle soup anytime someone in my family is sick or says they are feeling under the weather. I usually always pick up a rotisserie chicken to make this super easy to make and so I only have to simmer long enough for the carrots to be cooked. I’ve made this recipe with pearl couscous but also ditalini and orzo if I didn’t have couscous on hand. It’s good with any of them. Love the lemon grass and ginger and turmeric in this recipe. It’s so hearty and warming and perfect for when you don’t feel well. Even my now 8 year old will have several bites of this soup if she isn’t feeling well and I know she’s at least getting something into her tummy. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. I really do make this version all the time. I usually make a double batch too so that we have leftovers. Last thing anyone wants to do when they are sick is cook so having bowls portioned out for easy reheating is great. Thanks again, my whole family loves this recipe and I do think it helps us feel better.

Yes to the orzo. I haven’t made this soup in a slow cooker, so I don’t have instructions for it. I’m sure it would work just fine, as long as everything ends up cooked properly.

You can use either chicken stock or broth – whatever you have is fine. Apologies for any confusion.

Loved this soup! Flavors were fantastic. I left out garlic, not a fan of garlic breath.

Will keep this as a favorite.

Yes, a crock pot should work. Just hold off adding the couscous until later in the cook, so they don’t end up mushy.
