In reply to Lindsey. Kroger maddeningly keeps sneaking prices up by $.50. The audacity! Note that I wrote this recipe over the pandemic, and it seems to me that the recipe of the retail soup has changed a little bit. I still buy it occasionally, and the last container was really thick and needing some thinning. But, it should be close. I hope you enjoy!

The Home Chef version of this is my favorite soup in the whole world right now. I found your site by searching for a copycat recipe because it’s really expensive in the store and often out of stock. Thank you so much for taking the time to figure this out! I can’t wait to try it!

I love this recipe so much, and so does my picky husband and teen! I also add some minced garlic with the onion and red pepper. So easy to make. Thanks for the great recipe, Karen!
